1. Top of the list.

Remember Justice Sacco’s tweet “going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding, I’m white!” Yes! It got her fired faster than she could say (“Heyyy Africa”) I’ve landed. Takes us back to the guidelines "some things you just cannot joke about".

2. “The chain of publication”

Jennifer Pawluck, a young lady from Montreal Canada passes by a certain street, sees graffiti, probably thinking “what an art” takes a picture, bam! Straight to Instagram.
Next day she’s behind bars charged with a criminal harassment.
Huh! Really, why?
Well the picture depicted a senior police officer Ian Lafreniere with a bullet in his head. As much as she claimed she wasn’t the one that drew the graffiti, she was an advocate of a criminal offense.

3. Moving right along to “Bitter Barista” as famously known, Matt Watson, just like me he starts a blog but on a different aspect than mine though, nonetheless, the coffee blog chronicled all the irritating facets of being a Barista. Later he is outed by a coffee blog gossip blog sprudge.com He was fired for writing about his place of occupation during office hours.

4. Now this one takes the trophy.
Australian miners were fired after dancing… Guess what? THE HARLEM SHAKE, UNDERGROUND! They made a video and put it on YouTube. The video went viral. The company fired all 15 of them for compromising the company’s safety
.

A law firm attorney posts a picture online with the caption “the load of work I have get done after my lunch” Oblivious of what's on her table, somehow, someone manages to zoom into the stack of papers next to her lunch box and sees highly confidential information on her table. As innocent and unintentional as it was, she was fired.
Need I say more?
The pervasive power of social media really is compromising reputations let alone careers. Is it really worth it? Or is it just ignorant people being careless?
How are you going to handle your social media platform(s) after this? Do share your views and opinions. You more than welcomed to add from another aspect, it’s your own opinion.

The scariest thing is finding people doing exactly what they shouldn't do on social media, and amongst those are reputation management people like PR student. People that are suppose to do better because they know better but do the contrast
At Paul. True that, I've been spreading the word on all my social media platforms.
Ai Nthesh i think you exaggerating this a bit, like really? papers on my desk can get me fired?
Obviously, if it's not papers that will put your job at risk then you safe. But you can't take a picture next to client's information then expect people not to see. You must remember that not everyone is really your friend on social media, some people are out there to get you and will use every little bit of information to jeopardize you reputation
Thank you my sister, I wish all the girls out there could see this and learn a thing or 2
